The Ideal Length for your Video Resume

It's all about your audience

Are you wondering about the ideal length for your video resume?

There currently is no standard for the length of a video resume.  Your best guide is to consider your audience and your intent.  Your audience consists of recruiters, human resources, hiring managers and others with interest in your professional skills.

Keep in mind that your audience does not have the time to watch a video version of your resume, and take notes.  That’s not a very efficient use of time.  In other words, your video does not replace the written resume.

Your video is really a professional introduction, and should be designed to enhance your written resume and entice them to call you.  Your goal is to grab their attention, in a positive way.  To make them WANT to talk with you.

So how long should it be?  Ideally, less than 60 seconds.  And no more than a minute and a half.  Carefully decide what message you want to deliver, and deliver it in a way that gives the viewer a glimpse into what it is like to work with you.
