If you’re getting ready to post your video resume, or online Professional Profile, remember the first 5 seconds of any video are key. Why? Because you’re creating a first impression, which has been proven to make or break an employer’s interest in speaking with you in person. Those first 5 seconds must project energy and personality.
This can be a bit difficult to achieve unless you’ve had a lot of camera exposure. But, it’s worth practicing since you’ve got to ‘hook’ your viewer right up front in order to keep them interested in watching.
Projecting energy and personality is your bait.
So, here are three tips to help you lure your viewer. First, sit straight and tall, shoulders back – no slumping or you may get tagged as a ‘lazy applicant’.
Next, sit towards the front of your chair vs. leaning back to give the viewer a sense that you’re ready to roll.
And, third – tilt your head a bit while talking, this will help add emphasis and action to your words and keep your viewer from getting bored. And don’t forget to smile!
Those first 5 seconds are extremely important and we hope these tips have helped you. We’ve got more tips and valuable services around creating a video resume – so, check us out at FiredUP Careers.com
